Hegira 441 / AD 1049–50, Taifa kingdom of Banu Dhu'l-Nun
Wood, ivory, copper; enamel, deep carvings, mould cast
National Archaeological Museum
The work on the ivory plates that cover this wooden chest was taken from the Caliphate tradition, although the relief is lower and the interpretation of its decorative plant and hunting scenes more schematic. It was made in Cuenca for one of the sons of the king of Toledo.
