Description:

Small quadrangular adornment from a chest, with a wider base, with plant-form decoration: two flowers with light blue and greyish green enamelled petals, surrounded by white enamel and the remaining spaces filled with light blue. Three incisions are visible on the base containing remnants of gilding. This style of object was used to decorate small chests covered with bone or marble sheets.

By comparison with objects of the same type found in the citadel of Mértola and in other locations where archaeological excavations have taken place.

How Object was obtained:

Object found in the citadel area by an inhabitant of Mértola and donated to Mértola Museum in 1991.
