مجموعة من الأوزان البرونزية استعملت لوزن وحدات العملة المختلفة كالدينار (الذهبي) والدرهم (الفضي). تتخذ هذه الأوزان أشكالاً مختلفة مثل المربع والقرصي والمضلع متعدد الأوجه والمخروطي. وهي عادة مثقوبة من الوسط حتى يمكن حفظها مع بعضها البعض كوحدة واحدة وحملها بسهولة.
الطبقات الأثرية التي عُثر فيها على هذه الأوزان في العقبة تعطينا فكرة عن الاختلافات بين هذه الأوزان: فالأوزان الثقيلة زخرفت بشكل أكبر من الأوزان الخفيفة التي كانت زخرفتها أبسط. من الممكن أنّ الأوزان الأثقل كانت تستخدم لوزن البضائع الأثقل من العملات.

أوزان برونزية مصبوبة، من آيلا في العقبة، بأشكال وزخارف مختلفة، ذات علاقة بنظامين نقديين: قيم القطع النقدية لكل من الدرهم (الفضي)، والدينار (الذهبي). الأوزان الأثقل ربما كانت لوزن بضائع أثقل من القطع النقدية.

Aida Naghawy is an archaeologist and the Director of Jordan Archaeological Museum. She studied archaeology at the University of Jordan where she gained her MA. She was affiliated to the Jordanian Department of Antiquities from 1974 as a curator of Jordan Archaeological Museum. In 1981 she became inspector of Jerash antiquities and co-ordinator of the Jerash International Rehabilitation project. She was also head of the archaeological awareness section at the Department of Antiquities. Aida is the author of numerous publications on Islamic coins. She has carried out excavation work in Jerash and is the founder of Jerash Archaeological Museum and the Islamic Museum of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Manal Basyouni is an archaeologist and Curator at Aqaba Museum at the Department of Antiquities of Jordan. She studied at the University of Jordan where she gained her BA in Archaeology. She has been affiliated to the Department of Antiquities as Curator of Aqaba Museum since 1997. She has carried out several excavations in the southern part of Jordan especially in al-Humayma, Wadi Rum and Ayla.

Ghada Al-Yousef is an archaeologist and the Director of the Friends of Archaeology Society in Jordan. She studied at the University of Jordan from where she received her BA and MA in Archaeology. In 1993 she undertook a course in the restoration and conservation of ancient mosaics held by the Italian government in Jordan. She was affiliated to the Jordanian Department of Antiquities from 1994 to 1997 as a trainee in the restoration of ancient mosaics and the production of modern mosaics at Madaba Mosaic School. In 1995 she opened her own gallery and workshop for producing mosaics. She was appointed as the Director of the Friends of Archaeology Society in 2001. She has carried out excavation work in Amman and Madaba.
