Description:

This panel is one of a pair in the collections. It originally formed part of a frieze, with a foliated kufic inscription above, a system of arabesque cartouches in the centre and a narrow scrolling band below. Similar marble panels have been associated with the palace of the Ghaznavid ruler Mas`ud III at Ghazni, completed in AH 508 / AD 1112.
