Description:

This slip-painted dish shows a broad band of six white and ochre fish 'swimming' anticlockwise around its inner walls. A large central interlace roundel in red and white and two borders with pseudo-kufic inscriptions complete the design, which may echo pre-Islamic customs and beliefs or astrological preoccupations.
