MAO Museum of Oriental Art
Hegira 4th century / AD 10th century
Earthenware, white slip, black decoration under a transparent glaze
Height 19 cm, diameter max 19 cm
This small vase is an example of the elaborate production developed in the Eastern Iranian world. The vase has an elegant kufic character inscription – incomplete probably due to a restoration intervention – which bears, in its final part, a wish "In the name of God (for the) Blessing of its owner".
