Description:

In the Abbasid era Samarra and Basra were flourishing centres offering a rich testimony of active local craftsmen. Islamic ceramists' admiration for Chinese porcelain is reflected in the production of monochrome white or cream-coloured pottery, coated with a thick opaque glaze decorated with spots of colour.
