Description:

This large onion-shaped basin was probably made in the early AH 10th century / AD 16th century in Safawid Persia. It features the signature of the artist Shazi, “Amal-I shazi”, together with an inscription comprising parts of a poem by the poet, Helali, and verses by Halaki Herati, a less well-known poet from Herat, suggesting that the basin was produced at Herat, which was then part of Persia.
